Mr Egan, who is Sydney-based and joined GE in 1996, replaces Todd Smith who has taken up the role of CFO for GE Real Estate Asia.
Mr Egan was most recently business development finance manager for GE's Capital Solutions business in the United States.
Steve Sargent, chief executive, GE Australia/New Zealand and president and CEO, GE Commercial Finance, Australia/New Zealand, said Mr Egan's experience across GE's businesses had given him the knowledge to support the company's ongoing growth.
"Kevin's leadership, expertise and understanding of GE will further strengthen our ability to deliver solid results across the commercial finance business," Mr Sargent said.
GE Commercial Finance operates in more than 35 countries and has headquarters in Connecticut in the US.
It provides services such as lending products, growth capital, revolving lines of credit, equipment leasing, cash flow programs, and asset financing.
