CFO Moves UK – week ending 5 April 2013

Shanks Group plc announced that Marina Wyatt joined its Board as a Non-executive Director. She also becomes a member of the Group’s Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees and will chair the Audit Committee after the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on 25 July 2013. Ms Wyatt is the Chief Financial Officer at TomTom NV and a member of its Management Board. Following nine years with Arthur Andersen in London and the US, she then joined Psion Plc as its Group Controller and became Group Finance Director in 1996. In 2002 she was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Colt Telecom Plc and joined TomTom as its Chief Financial Officer in 2005. Ms Wyatt previously served as a Non-executive Director of Symbian Ltd and of Blackwell Publishing Ltd.

Laing O’Rourke announced that its UK construction boss, Callum Tuckett has been promoted to chief financial officer and chief commercial officer for the group.

Gem Diamonds Limited (LSE: GEMD) announced the retirement of its Chief Financial Officer, Kevin Burford, who has held the position of Chief Financial Officer since January 2006. Mr Burford’s retirement is effective from 1 April 2013 and he will be succeeded by Gem Diamonds’ current Group Financial Manager, Michael Michael, who has held this position since March 2008.

African Eagle Resources plc (AIM: AFE) announced that, by mutual agreement, David Newbold stepped down from the Board of Directors. He will still continue as CFO for a transitional period of six months following which he will leave the Company. The Company expects that Robert McLearon (Group Financial Controller) will thereafter assume Mr Newbold’s responsibilities in connection with the Company’s finance function.

CFO Moves UK – week ending 12 April 2013

Henderson Group plc announced that Shirley Garrood has decided to retire from the Group in March 2014 and will stand down as Chief Financial Officer (‘CFO’) and as a Director with effect from 1 July 2013. The company also announced that Roger Thompson has joined the firm from J.P. Morgan Asset Management where most recently he was Global Chief Operating Officer of its Investment Management business and was previously Head of its UK franchise and prior to that International CFO. The appointment of Roger Thompson as CFO and as a Director of the Group is expected to become effective on 1 July 2013.

Bluefin Insurance announced that Tim Philip has been appointed interim CFO. He will be replacing Robert Organ who is joining Axa Insurance’s Commercial Lines and Personal Intermediary as finance director. Prior to Bluefin, Philip had been at Towergate for 10 years, leading the firm’s finance division from its initial launch in 2002. He has also held key finance functions at Heath Lambert and Benfield Group and qualified as an accountant with PwC.

Legal & General Investment Management has appointed Siobhan Boylan as chief financial officer. Boylan joins LGIM from Aviva North America. Prior to this she held a number of senior finance roles within the Aviva Group and was CFO of Aviva Investors from 2007-2011, immediately prior to her move to the US.

Lloyds banking group has named Aviva UK life chief financial officer Craig Thornton as general insurance director. Starting from 1 June, Thornton will have responsibility for running the group’s Halifax and Lloyds TSB general insurance units. Thornton joined Aviva in 2010 as chief risk officer. He was named UK commercial director in November 2011 and UK life chief financial officer in July 2012.
