UK | CFO Moves - week ending 4 April 2014

Tracking CFO Movement Across the United Kingdom.


The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc announced that Ewen Stevenson has been appointed as an Executive Director and RBS Chief Finance Officer with effect from 19 May 2014. Mr Stevenson joins from Credit Suisse where he is Co-Head of EMEA Investment Banking and its Global Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking division. Ewen has been with Credit Suisse in the UK and New Zealand throughout his career, which spans 25 years.

SSE plc announced that Peter Lynas has been appointed a non-Executive Director and will join the Board of the company on 1 July 2014. Peter is Group Finance Director of BAE Systems plc, the UK-listed defence, aerospace and security company.

Tesco PLC announced that Laurie McIlwee, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, has decided to step down from the Board and resign from the Company but has agreed to remain in his role to ensure a smooth handover to his successor.

Frontier IP Group plc announced that James Fish has been appointed to the Company as Finance Director. Mr Fish was latterly interim Finance Director at The One Place Capital Limited. James’s appointment enables Marilyn Cole to step down as Finance Director and Company Secretary. James will also be appointed Company Secretary.

Madagascar Oil Limited (AIM: MOIL) announced that Gordon Stein will join the Board of Directors of the Company. He will join the Board as an independent Director in his role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Company, in which capacity he has served since 28 June 2013. Stein was previously CFO at Cadogan Petroleum plc. Preceding this he has been CFO at Vanguard Energy Limited and Regal Petroleum plc. He has also held senior financial and operational management positions in Fairfield Energy Limited, Acorn Oil & Gas Limited, LASMO plc, Monument Oil & Gas plc, Centrica plc and BG plc.

Creston plc (LSE: CRE) announced the appointment of Kathryn Herrick as Chief Financial Officer of the Group and member of the Creston board. Kathryn’s appointment will be effective by the start of July 2014, with the exact start date to be announced in due course. This announcement follows the recent appointment of former Chief Operating and Financial Officer, Barrie Brien, as Group Chief Executive. Kathryn will be joining Creston from Equinix Inc., where she currently holds the role of Vice President Finance for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Alliance Pharma plc announced the appointment of David Cook as an independent Non-executive Director of the Company. David is currently Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer of Biotie Therapies Inc. He has previously held senior financial positions with Jazz Pharmaceuticals Limited, EUSA Pharma Inc. and Cephalon Inc.

Applied Graphene Materials plc announced that Michael Sean Christie has been appointed as a Non Executive Director of the Group. Sean Christie is currently Group Finance Director of Croda International plc. Prior to joining Croda in 2006, Sean was Group Finance Director of Northern Foods plc. He has also served as a Non Executive Director of KCOM Group plc until 2007 and of Cherry Valley Farms Limited until its sale in 2010.

Auhua Clean Energy Plc (AIM: ACE) announced the appointment of Jonathan (Jon) Sumner as chief financial officer of the Company. Jon Sumner succeeds Thng Tien Lung who leaves the Company and also his role as a director of the Company to pursue other business interests.

Charles Taylor plc (LSE: CTR) announced that its Group Chief Financial Officer, Tito Soso has given notice to the Company under his service agreement but will remain on the board for the time being whilst a replacement Group CFO is recruited.

Nanoco Group plc (AIM: NANO) announced that Michael Bretherton, a Non-executive Director of Nanoco, has stepped down from the Board. Mike was Chief Financial Officer at the time that Nanoco joined AIM in 2009 and has served as a Non-executive Director since August 2010.

Fidessa group plc announced the appointment of John Worby as a non-executive director and member of the audit, remuneration and nominations committees with effect from 1st May 2014. In 2013 he retired as Group Finance Director of Genus Plc, having previously been Group Finance Director and Deputy Chairman at Uniq Plc (formerly Unigate Plc). John is the Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Smiths News plc, where he has been a non-executive director since 2006. He is also the Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Cranswick Group plc, where he has been non-executive director since 2005.

A.G. BARR p.l.c. announced that Alex Short has informed the Board of his intention to resign from his position as Finance Director. Alex has been Finance Director for approaching six years. Following his resignation, Alex will be returning to the spirits industry, joining private company The Edrington Group as Group Finance Director.

Kentz Corporation Limited (LSE: KENZ) announced that Ed Power, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will step down from his position, on reaching his normal retirement age, on 29 May 2014. The Group announced that Meg Lassarat will succeed Ed Power as CFO upon his retirement at the end of May, and will be appointed to the Board of Kentz Corporation Limited thereafter. Most recently, Meg was CFO of UniversalPegasus International a Houston based professional engineering and field services organisation. Prior to this role, Meg spent eight years as CFO of Mustang Engineering, a part of the Wood Group.
