USA | CFO Moves – week ending October 16, 2015

Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE: GNW) [RICHMOND, Va.] announced that it has named Kelly L. Groh executive vice president and chief financial officer. She succeeds Martin P. Klein, who resigned to take a senior leadership role at another financial services company. Groh, presently the company’s controller and principal accounting officer, has been with Genworth since prior to its initial public offering in 2004, serving in leadership roles including senior vice president of investment portfolio management, CFO of the company’s previous Retirement and Protection segment and various finance roles for predecessor companies. Prior to joining the company, Groh was employed by Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLP.

Under Armour (NYSE: UA) [BALTIMORE] announced that Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Brad Dickerson will be stepping down to pursue another professional opportunity outside of the athletic performance industry. Mr. Dickerson has been with Under Armour since 2004, serving as CFO since 2008, and more recently gaining the title of COO in early 2015. Mr. Dickerson will remain with Under Armour until February 2016.

Blue Apron [NEW YORK] announced that Brad Dickerson will join the company as Chief Financial Officer. Brad is currently the CFO and COO of Under, and will transition to Blue Apron in early 2016. Brad spent the last eleven years at Under Armour, joining initially as its controller and then eventually becoming CFO and then COO. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer of Macquarie Aviation North America from 2003 to 2004 and Chief Financial Officer of Network Building & Consulting from 1998 to 2003. Along with the hire of Dickerson as CFO, Blue Apron announced today that Julie M.B. Bradley, CFO of TripAdvisor, will join Blue Apron’s Board of Directors. Bradley also serves on the board of Wayfair and Constant Contact.

Zift Solutions [RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC] announced that Nicole Wicker has joined the company’s executive leadership team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Directly prior to joining Zift, Wicker was the CFO of TearScience, from 2011 to 2013. Wicker’s successful career history also includes serving as Interim CFO for Motricity, Controller for SmartPath, Senior Manager for Ernst & Young (EY) as well as contract CFO for a number of companies.

Sino-Global Shipping America, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SINO) [ROSLYN, N.Y.] announced the appointment of Ms. Tuo Pan as the Company’s new Acting Chief Financial Officer (“Acting CFO”). Ms. Pan will replace Anthony S. Chan who served as the Company’s Acting CFO, Director and Executive Vice President since October 31, 2013. Mr. Chan is stepping down only as Acting CFO and will remain on the Board of Directors and retain his position as Executive Vice President. Since 2008, Ms. Pan has overseen the finance and accounting functions of Sino-Global Shipping Australia Pty Ltd. From August 2007 to July 2008, Ms. Pan worked as Project Manager of Baker Tilly China Ltd.

Sunspire Health [LYNDHURST, NJ] named Bryan J. Carey as EVP and CFO. Carey was most recently the President and CFO of 21st Century Oncology. Prior to 21st Century Oncology, Bryan served as Managing Director of Vestar Capital Partners. He also served as a director, consultant, and interim executive, including CEO, COO and/or CFO for various portfolio companies. Bryan also held lead executive roles at Aearo Corporation and Manufacturers Hanover Venture Capital.

iSystems, LLC [BURLINGTON, Vt.], the company behind Evolution HCM, announced the hiring of Theodore I. Les as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Les held executive management positions with renowned Internet pioneer Bolt Beranek & Newman (BBN Corp.) and GTE. For the past 15 years, Les served as the CFO for technology innovator Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi) and Agreements Based Billing market leader MetaTech Corp.

Bovie Medical Corporation (NYSE: BVX) [CLEARWATER, Fla.] announced that it has named Jay Ewers to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Ewers has served as interim CFO since mid-June of this year and was previously the Company’s Corporate Controller.

Remedy Pharmaceuticals [NEW YORK] announced the appointment of Richard I. Steinhart as Chief Financial Officer. Previously he was employed by MELA Sciences, Inc. as the Company’s Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary. Prior to joining MELA, Richard was a Managing Director of Forest Street Capital/SAE Ventures. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Emisphere Technologies, Inc. Richard’s other experience includes seven years at CW Group, Inc., where he was a General Partner and Chief Financial Officer. He began his career at Price Waterhouse, now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Suddath Companies [JACKSONVILLE, FLA.] announced that chief financial officer, Jim Barnett, will retire in January 2016, after 41 years of dedicated service. Barnett joined Suddath in 1974 and assumed the CFO position in 2002. Kevin Gannon, chief financial officer for the Suddath operating companies, will assume the role for the parent company following Barnett’s transition.

Wimbledon Health Partners [BOCA RATON, FLORIDA] announced the hire of Ron Levitt as Chief Financial Officer.

Argan, Inc. (NYSE: AGX) [ROCKVILLE, Md.] announced the appointment of David Watson as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position held by Board member, Cynthia Flanders since the retirement of the former CFO in late 2014. Ms. Flanders will continue to serve on the Company’s Board of Directors and assist with the transition. Most recently Mr. Watson was the CFO and Treasurer of Gladstone Investment Corporation and Gladstone Capital Corporation. Prior to that he served as Director of Portfolio Accounting of MCG Capital from July 2007 until January 2010.

i-5 Publishing [IRVINE, Calif.] announced the appointment of David Katzoff as chief financial officer. Prior to joining i-5, Katzoff served as vice president of finance at Local Corporation, for 11 years.

Sysorex (NASDAQ: SYRX) [PALO ALTO, Calif.] announced it has named Kevin Harris as Chief Financial Officer. Harris’ most recent role was CFO of Response Genetics. Harris began his financial career at KPMG. He assumes the CFO role from Wendy Loundermon who has served as Sysorex’s interim CFO since January, 2015 and before that as Sysorex’s CFO from 2002 to November, 2014. Loundermon will continue with Sysorex as Vice President of Finance and President of the company’s government services unit.

Surgical Affiliates Management Group [SACRAMENTO, Calif.] announced that it has appointed Theresa Hylen to the position of Chief Financial Officer. In her most recent position, Hylen served as the CFO/Finance Executive for Sutter Medical Foundation, North Division. Prior to that position, Hylen served as CFO for Sutter Amador Hospital. Additional positions within the Sutter organization included Director of Finance for Sutter North Medical Foundation and Finance Director/Accounting Manager for Sutter Medical Foundation. Before joining Sutter, she was a Senior Auditor with Ernst & Young LLP.

Masonite International Corporation (NYSE: DOOR) [TAMPA, Fla.] announced the appointment of Russell Tiejema as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective November 2, 2015. Mr. Tiejema is joining Masonite from Lennox International, where he has served as the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of LII Residential, the largest reporting segment of Lennox International, since 2013. From 2011 to 2013 he served as the Vice President, Business Analysis & Planning, of Lennox International. Prior to joining Lennox in 2011, he spent 20 years with General Motors in a variety of financial leadership roles across a number of operating units and staffs, including Finance Director for GM Fleet & Commercial and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.

Eastside Distilling, Inc. (OTCQB: ESDI) [PORTLAND, OR] announced that Steve Shum has been appointed as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Prior to joining Eastside, Mr. Shum spent approximately five years as Chief Financial Officer of a publicly-traded global renewable energy company.

Condor Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDOR) [Norfolk, NE] announced that Jonathan J. Gantt will join Condor as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on October 27, 2015. Mr. Gantt served as Director, Treasury, Capital Markets and M&A of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. from July 2013 to October 2015. As previously announced, Corrine L. Scarpello, who joined Condor in 2005, and who served as CFO since August 2009, will be leaving the company with the appointment of Mr. Gantt as CFO.

Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) [WYOMISSING, Pa.] announced that Damon Audia has been named Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Tim Lain will resume his position as Vice President, Controller & Chief Accounting Officer. For the last ten years, Damon has been with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance for the company’s North America division. He also led the finance group for Goodyear’s Asia Pacific Region business unit while based in Shanghai, China and was Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Development. Earlier in his career with Goodyear, Damon served as the company’s Vice President & Treasurer. His prior experiences include positions with Delphi Corporation and General Motors.

Fastenal Company [Winona, Minnesota] appointed the current CFO, Daniel Florness as the Company’s president and chief executive officer effective January 1, 2016. Mr. Florness has served as the Company’s chief financial officer since June 1996 and as an executive vice president of the Company since December 2002.

General American Investors Company, Inc. [NEW YORK] reported that Henry Schirmer, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Unilever North America, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Schirmer has held prior positions at Unilever operations in Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland and several other consumer and industrial organizations.
