Ledger launches Nano S, a secure cryptocurrency hardware wallet

Ledger Nano S is a secure Bitcoin and Ethereum hardware wallet.

It connects to any computer through USB and embeds a built-in OLED display to double-check and confirm each transaction
with a single tap on its side buttons.
After Nano, HW.1, and Unplugged, Ledger completes its hardware wallets offer with Nano S. Result of 18 months of R&D and improvements over the best-seller Nano, Nano S can both be used for Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Nano S is a small device you connect to your computer and access with a PIN code. It is based on a dual chip architecture featuring latest generation STMicroelectronics Secure Element, and each payment has to be confirmed with a second factor validated with the embedded OLED screen. Private keys and funds are stored in full isolation, transactions are controlled and verified.

For Eric Larchevêque, Ledger CEO: “Ledger's mission is to bring best in class security solutions to the market. Nano S is a marvel of technology, bridging the gap between Secure Hardware and Open Source. With a very aggressive price point and packed with exciting features, there is no doubt that Nano S is going to be the upcoming reference in hardware wallets.”
“The Nano S creates the first native development platform for Open Source applications on Secure Elements - using our SDK, developers can easily design and distribute their own applications and install them on demand, enabling safer cryptocurrency wallets, authentication and identity solutions” explains Nicolas Bacca, CTO of Ledger.

Dual chip hardware, second factor display and multi-application open development

Ledger Nano S comes with a set of Chrome applications to manage your cryptocurrency wallets. The Bitcoin Chrome app is an award winning wallet featuring multi-accounts and rich settings.
Nano S is the first Ethereum hardware wallet: Ledger has launched a dedicated Chrome app to manage different accounts and securely receive or send ethers from your Nano S.
In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets, Nano S can run with third party apps such as FIDO U2F, GPG, SSH, and advanced users as well as enterprise customers can build their own apps.
