KPMG to Acquire BrainNet

KPMG AG has agreed to acquire consulting firm BrainNet Supply Management Group, which specializes in procurement consulting and supply chain management (SCM). The acquisition enhances KPMG member firms’ existing capability in designing and optimizing global supply chains and broadens the service offering to support clients across their whole value chain.

The transaction is expected to close later this summer, subject to approval from the responsible regulatory authorities. Financial terms will not be disclosed.

Based in Bonn, Germany and St. Gallen, Switzerland, BrainNet is one of the leading, international consulting firms in supply chain management. BrainNet serves clients with tailor-made solutions in the areas of research & development, operations, logistics, purchasing and strategic qualification. Recognized as a thought leader, BrainNet has been setting trends in supply chain management consultancy for more than 15 years.

BrainNet’s innovative approach and globally scalable delivery tools and methodologies will add to the breadth and depth of capabilities in this important area across the KPMG member firm network.

“Clients are looking for innovative ways to continually adapt their organizations in response to changing marketplace dynamics. Optimizing the supply chain helps to support this transformation and create sustainable value for their business,” commented KPMG in Germany CEO Klaus Becker.

“We look forward to welcoming the BrainNet team to the KPMG global network,” added Mark A. Goodburn, Global Head of Advisory, KPMG International. “With the acquisition of BrainNet, KPMG will have an even greater depth of knowledge and global footprint to help member firm clients navigate their most complex supply chain challenges and opportunities.”

With the transaction, KPMG will create a global Center of Excellence to provide support for the procurement and supply chain management offering of its member firms, including the BrainNet business. The Center will be led by Christian Rast, currently CEO of BrainNet. Christian Rast added, “We are delighted to be joining a network with KPMG’s capabilities and global scope. The combination of our strengths in SCM and procurement creates a market-leading offering to meet the needs of global clients. We feel confident that the combination of our strategic and technical expertise along with KPMG’s international footprint will greatly enhance our efficiency, innovation and competitive advantage.”
