European CXOs Own One or More Wireless Devices

In 2011 Frost & Sullivan's customer research on various mobile communication and computing products/services surveyed shown that 98 per cent of European CXOs use/own laptops/notebooks. In comparison to Frost's 2009 research, desktop personal computer ownership is declining. More than three-quarters of CXOs have one tablet computer, while 20 per cent report of CXOs who own two or more tablet computers citing family needs and business or private use as the reasons owning more than one tablet computer.

Another wireless device Smartphone surveyed shown that this device is no longer perceived as just for business means. It is increasingly use for social media, and more. Tonya Fowler, Global Director, Customer Research Frost & Sullivan said, "In 2011, European CXOs' Smartphone usage for purely business purposes has declined, as Smartphone use is also popular for personal purposes, compared to 2009. Overall, European CXOs perceived wireless communication and battery life as the most important Smartphone features. However, most CXOs also rate overall quality and ease-of-use very highly, while security and applications compatibility are viewed as less important. In 2011, the primary-owned brand of smartphones is Apple, yet in 2009 it was Blackberry. While ownership increased for Apple, it declined for Nokia, HTC, and Sony Ericsson. Most CXOs perceive Apple smartphones as the overall best brand of smartphones, followed by BlackBerry."

With the creation of the tablet, even CXOs who have used laptops and Smartphones are interested in using a device that merges the two. Thus, business applications of tablets are expected to remain a firm favorite among CXOs even more in the future.

Fowler said, "The largest proportion of CXOs has one tablet computer, while only 20 per cent report they have two or more tablet computers. The 20 per cent of CXOs who own two or more tablet computers cite family needs, business/private use, and different locations as the reasons for owning more than one. Nine out of 10 CXOs surveyed regarded Apple as the best tablet computer. Furthermore, owners of Apple tablet computers report high satisfaction and a high likelihood of re-purchasing and recommending their brand to a colleague or peer."

In 2011, the primary-owned smart device brand is Apple and it has the second-highest satisfaction ratings. While most CXOs acquire their Smartphones from mobile operator stores, Apple owners are also likely to buy directly from the manufacturer. Manufacturers and the Internet are both rated high on convenience when it comes to where CXOs purchase their Smartphones.
