Canada | CFO Moves – week ending June 20, 2014

Tracking CFO Movement Across Canada.


Suncor Energy announced the appointment of Alister Cowan as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective July 21, 2014. Alister comes to Suncor from Husky Energy, where he had been CFO since 2008. Prior to joining Husky, he served as EVP and CFO of British Columbia Hydro & Power Authority from 2004 to 2008. Before that, Alister held various finance executive roles at Direct Energy Marketing Limited and TransAlta Corp. Since December 9, 2013 Steve Reynish has served as interim CFO in addition to his responsibilities as EVP Strategy & Corporate Development.

Husky Energy Inc. (TSX: HSE) announced that that effective July 18, 2014, Alister Cowan, Chief Financial Officer, will be leaving the Company to pursue other interests.

Enbridge Inc. (TSX: ENB) announced that J. Richard Bird, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Development, plans to retire by the end of 2014. Upon Mr. Bird’s retirement, his responsibilities will be split into two separate roles of chief financial officer and chief development officer. Enbridge also announced the appointment of John Whelen as Senior Vice President, Finance, reporting to Mr. Bird, effective July 1st, 2014. John will retain executive leadership of the Company’s financial reporting function and will assume responsibility for Enbridge’s tax and treasury functions. John began his career with Enbridge in 1992 when he joined the Consumers Gas Company (now Enbridge Gas Distribution) as Manager of Treasury. Since that time, he has held roles of increasing responsibility within the finance organization at Enbridge. Prior to his role as Controller, John held a number of other senior management positions including Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Vice President & Treasurer responsible for cash management and banking, corporate finance and risk management. He also served as President of the Company’s publicly traded affiliate Enbridge Income Fund Holdings Inc. and its predecessor, Enbridge Income Fund from 2008 through the end of 2013.

Zargon Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX: ZAR) announced that Jason Dranchuk has tendered his resignation as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Zargon effective July 14, 2014 to pursue other opportunities. In the interim, Craig Hansen will assume the chief financial officer duties.

Thrasos Therapeutics announced the appointment of Donald Notman as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Previously, he was a Managing Director and Head of Private Capital Markets for seven years at Leerink Partners. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade at Alex. Brown & Sons and its successor organization Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, where his most recent position was Managing Director and Global Group Head of Equity Private Placements.

Royal Host Inc. (TSX: RYL) announced that Michael McFeters, the Company’s CFO, has resigned. Mr. McFeters advised the Company that he is leaving his position to pursue another opportunity. In light of the acquisition of Royal Host by Holloway Lodging Corporation, which is scheduled to close on or about July 1, 2014, Royal Host does not plan to replace Mr. McFeters.

biOasis Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: BTI) announced the appointment of Judi Dalling as its Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. Ms. Dalling has been controller and business manager of a major magazine publishing enterprise for over 20 years. Ms. Dalling currently works with various reporting companies, providing legal, accounting and administration services. David Clark has resigned as the CFO, Corporate Secretary and director of the Company.

QE2 Acquisition Corp. (“QE2″) announced the appointment of Rob Harding as Chief Financial Officer effective immediately. Mr. Harding was most recently with Athabasca Oil Corporation where he held positions of Controller, VP Finance & CFO and VP Corporate Services.

Acasti Pharma Inc. (TSX-V: APO) announced the resignation of Xavier Harland as Chief Financial Officer of Acasti with immediate effect. The functions of Chief Financial Officer for Acasti will be assumed by Andre Godin, who is currently also Chief Financial Officer of Neptune Technologies and Bioressources.

Vendome Resources Corp. (TSX-V: VDR) announced the appointment of Victoria Kuklina as its Chief Financial Officer.

Intercept Energy Services Inc. (TSX-V: IES) has appointed Mr. Swapan Kakumanu as its new Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”). Mr. Swapan Kakumanu will be replacing Marvin Jones, who was appointed interim CFO on June 9, 2014, after the resignation of Mr. William (Bill) Taylor Cromb. Mr. Swapan Kakumanu has over 15 years of senior finance and operations experience. He has served at senior executive management levels both in public and private companies including senior roles as President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary as well as serving on the Board.

Orca Touchscreen Technologies Ltd. (CSE: OAA) announced the appointment of Jong Myung (James) Choi as Chief Financial Officer and a Director of the Company, replacing Justin Blanchet in those capacities. In 2004, Mr. Choi established JIC Enterprises Ltd., an international trading and consulting company based in British Columbia, Canada. In 2005, Mr. Choi received an award for distinguished service from the Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce. In 2005, Mr. Choi immigrated and settled in British Columbia, Canada where he continues to serve as President of JIC Enterprises Ltd.
