2015 International Accounting Bulletin Awards winners announced

International Accounting Bulletin, the leading international magazine covering the accountancy market globally, has revealed the winners of the 2015 International Accounting Bulletin Awards. BDO, ShineWing, DFK International and INPACT are just some of the winners of this year’s awards. The award ceremony, held in London last night, honoured excellence in the global profession by announcing winners across 13 categories.

- KPMG retains two of its three awards from 2014: Sustainable firm of the year and Social media networking champion of the year
- BDO awarded Network of the year ahead of two Big Four firms
- Rising star network award highlights rise of accountancy organisation in Asia
- Grant Thornton UK CEO Sacha Romanovitch wins the Personality of the year award & Baker Tilly International CEO Geoff Barnes the Lifetime achievement award

The finalists and winners have been selected by an independent panel of judges including: Jane Howard, partner at Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co LLP, Ndungu Gathinki, former chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), and former IFAC board member, and Mark Koziel, vice president – firm services & global alliances at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

“This is the fourth consecutive year for the International Accounting Bulletin Awards and we continue to receive strong nominations year-on-year across all categories,” said Vincent Huck, acting editor at International Accounting Bulletin.

“While the market is often and sometimes artificially divided between big and small players, the nominations have shown that quality and professionalism is not linked to an organisation’s size. This resulted in mid-tier and smaller practices winning awards against Big Four firms; for example, in the Advisory firm of the year award where Crowe Horwath came out on top of PwC, but also most obviously in the Network of the year award where PwC and KPMG lost to BDO.”

“A very interesting trend was in the Rising star network category, where all finalists came from outside of the Anglo-Saxon world, highlighting the growing importance of the emerging markets on the global accountancy scene.”

“This year we have witnessed a particular interest in the so called “people awards”, such as: Young accountant of the year, Personality of the year and Lifetime achievement of the year. We were overwhelmed with nominations in these categories and they proved to be amongst the most challenging for the judges to reach a final decision.”
